Russian airline official rules out technical error as cause of crash

The crash of the Russian airliner in midair over the Sinai peninsula that killed 244 people over the weekend was not caused by any malfunction of the plane or pilot error, the airline said Monday. Isis has earlier come out to claim responsibility for the crash ,and further confirming that claim an official of the airline claimed below,

"The crash could only have been the result of some other “technical or physical action,” Alexander Smirnov, deputy general director of the airline, told a Moscow news conference Monday.

“The plane was in excellent condition,” Smirnov said. “We rule out a technical fault and any mistake by the crew,” he said.

Smirnov said the crash could not have taken place due to either a fuel problem or engine failure, as neither would lead to the plane breaking up in midair.

“The only explanation could be a mechanical impact on the aircraft,” he said. He declined to elaborate."
